After just two rounds, it’s obviously early days in this year’s SuperSport Rugby Challenge, but if there is anything resembling a dark horse – or even a team which will prove stubborn to beat – in the competition thus far it has to be the Boland Cavaliers.
Ivan Pekeur was re-elected as the president of the Boland Rugby Union on Thursday 28 February 2019.
The presidential and executive elections took place during the union’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held at the Boland Stadium in Wellington.
Pekeur, who was opposed by Bertram Vraagom of Saldanha Bay Rugby Club, will serve another 4-year term as the president of Boland Rugby.
Bennie van Rooi was elected as vice-president.

This encounter has become a popular fixture in recent years, pulling in large crowds, as supporters are eager to track their teams’ pre-season progress.
With both rugby unions looking to test their club talent on a provincial stage, a Boland Invitational team will be squaring-off against a Western Province Emerging team in a curtain-raiser for the main event.
Following the Cavaliers vs Stormers match, Boland Premier Division giants Worcester Villagers will also be in action against a Boland XV team.
