THE Boland U.20 rugby team advanced to the finals of the U.20 Currie Cup competition after claiming a convincing 41-27 win over SWD U.20 at the Boland Stadium this past Friday.
With the score tied at 10-all at the break, Boland outscored the visitors with six tries against three in order to secure victory in this semi-final match.
Boland will now face the Griffons U.20’s in the Currie Cup U.20 finals on Friday 7 October in Potchefstroom at 13:30. This match (televised live on Supersport 1) will be a curtain raiser for the Currie Cup First Division final between the Leopards and the Griffons (kick-off at 16:00)
Kurt-Lee Arendse, captain and fullback of Boland, cored two tries against SWD, with Andre Manuel (reserve back), Barry Adonis (wing), Cyle Davids (prop) and Michaine Fick (outside centre) each scoring a try. Hendrik Carstens (three conversions and a penalty) and Keagan Fortune (conversion) contributed 11-points with the boot.
THE Boland Cavaliers will be hosting the Vodacom Blue Bulls in a Currie Cup Premier Division match at the Boland Stadium in Wellington on Friday 23 September 2016.
Following their recent defeat against Griquas in Kimberley, Boland will be eager to bounce back against the men in blue. Having beaten the Blue Bulls 26-35 in Pretoria during the Currie Cup Qualifying stages earlier this season, the Cavaliers will be backing themselves on their home turf.
In an attempt to get Boland’s supporters behind the team, scholars dressed in school uniform will get free entry into the stadium on Friday.
