The Boland Cavaliers turned it on during the second half to beat the visiting E.P. Kings 37-18 (halftime 17-11) in their quest for Currie Cup Premier Division status.
The Cavaliers lead 17-6 at a stage in the first half, courtesy of tries by lock Ockie van Zyl and hooker Chadley Wenn, coupled with seven points from the boot of fullback Nico Scheepers.
Outside centre Somila Jho went over after some consistent pressure on the Cavaliers try-line, despite being successful with two earlier penalties fullback Courtney Winnaar could not add the extras.
The hosts were leading 17-11 when referee Francois Pretorius signalled for half-time. Both teams had a chance to claim the result but needed a strong showing in the second stanza.
The Cavaliers were quick out of the blocks as Scheepers converted a penalty before loose forward Zandre Jordaan went over and took the score to 25-11.
Winnaar sprinted the length of the field after intercepting on his own try line, dotting down under the uprights. The conversion was successful by flyhalf Simon Bolze to make it 25-18 .
Two tries courtesy of the experienced winger Danwel Demas, his brace not only wrapped up the try scoring bonus-point, but also secured the result for the home side.
Full-back Scheepers added the extras to the 34-year-old speedster’s second try which were the last points of the match leaving the scoreboard on 37-18.
A visit to Nelspruit sees the Cavaliers face the Pumas in a vital match for both teams, as the Cavaliers will look to make in three straight wins on the trot. The Kings host neighbours Border at Queens College, Queenstown and will hope to bounce back.

The Boland Cavaliers ran in five tries to three as they clinched an impressive 37-25 (half-time 22-13) win over the Cell C Sharks XV in their provincial tournament match at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont on Friday.

Boland Cavaliers head coach Brent Janse van Rensburg announced the Boland Cavaliers match day squad to face the Sharks on Friday 8 April, in the first round of the 2016 Currie Cup competition.
This match has been scheduled to take place at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban at 19:00.
Janse van Rensburg has named Outside Centre Ryan Nell as captain for the first match, but stated that the appointment of a leadership group within the squad may lead to the captaincy being rotated during the course season.
Veteran loose forward Zandré Jordaan has been entrusted with the vice-captaincy duties.
The following players will all make their debut for the Boland on Friday:
